Sibui- our last day in Romania

Tuesday, 25 March 2008
We arrived via bus yesterday after noon in one of the Cultural Capitals of Europe 2007- Sibui, capital city of Transylvania. It was raining hard when the bus pulled into the city. We ducked inside a hotel, looking for a map or information. None available, but the receptionist did speak English and called a taxi for us to make our way to the room we had reserved.
We were a bit freaked out by the location. At the end of the muddy road appeared to be factory or some sort of industry. We rang the bell, knocked on the gate and no response. Imagine, we are out off any map I have in the book, in the pouring rain, hungry for lunch, no telephone in sight...What do we do? Walk.
Keith remembered seeing a guest house so we headed toward it. Luckily they had a room available, it was warm and we decided it would be home. Lady Luck was on our side yet again. No meltdown even, though I know we both were tempted to cry!
We had to go back out into the rain to find some food. We took the bus into the center of town and had a nice meal at a very typical Romanian cafe.
This morning our breakfast consisted of two types of salami, various cheeses, bread, cucumbers, and very strong coffee. Just right!
We are back in the center of the 500 year old plus old town. It's very beautiful, no pictures to post yet, we are without the cords, but we will post soon.
The weather today is party cloudy, cool and windy. We may go out to a living museum with hundreds of old buildings that explain life in the Romanian countryside if the sun stays out. It is spread out over hundreds of acres and we don't want to be there if it rains hard like yesterday.
Tomorrow will be the tough travel day. The plan is to take an early plane to Ancona, Italy, spend the day and take a ferry overnight back to Croatia. Please send sunny wishes our way!

Ringing the bell knocking on the gate;no response! The little guest house "coincidentally" has room. Sounds likes a 1940s Bella Lugosi movie to me! Pick up garlic. Missing you! All is well. No worries cuz I press the Don't Worry button. Tell Keith to hug you for me. Keep safe. love Lucy
